Call of Duty Modern Warfare Storyline

In a modern-day, lifelike setting, Alex, an undercover CIA officer, and British SAS forces under Captain Prince team up with rebels under Farah Karim from the fictional country of Urzikstan to fight against Russian troops under General Barkov.

They have attacked the country and escaped with some dangerous chemical gases along with Sergeant Garrick, Captain Prince’s forces raided an Al-Qatalan house.

Still, they failed to capture their leader, The Wolf, after a suicide bombing attack.

Following persistent invasions to capture The Wolf, his trusted bloke, The Butcher, attacked the United States Embassy to free The Wolf.

However, it became known that Farah Karim’s brother Hadir Karim had joined the Al-Qatala, stole the chemicals, and set them off in the area.

Captain Price and Farah Karim were eventually able to kill The Wolf but couldn’t track down Hadir.

They learned about Hadir’s plans to attack Barkov, who was ultimately killed and destroyed the factory.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Gameplay

Critics have praised the Call of Duty Modern Warfare for its very tactical gameplay style, door breaching, ability to use night-vision goggles during breaching and clearing, map exploration, and realism.

The mini-map feature is employed, but the advent of red dots signifying enemy players have been removed.

Booties based on kills, a feature discontinued in recent Call of Duty titles, are used instead of booties based on scores.

Killstreaks can also be converted into Scorestreaks via an in-game incentive called “Pointman.”

Single-Player Mode

The Single Player Mode is an offline mode that requires a complete installation of the game in any of the required platforms.

A player has to select the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Offline Mode and boot up the single-player campaign.

However, some modes and features require an internet connection as a prerequisite.

Multiplayer Mode

The multiplayer modes are the most intriguing in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game.

The Modern Warfare Multiplayer Mode is a mix of the series’ classic modes and newly included modes.

Below is a list of Multiplayer Modes in the game:

Team Deathmatch

Team DeathMatch is the easiest multiplayer mode because it’s two teams against each other.

A player’s aim and his teammates are to kill enemy players of another group to earn points; the first team to reach 100 points will win the match.

Cyber Attack

The Cyber Attack is a newly initiated mode in the Call of Duty series.

In this mode, a player, along with five others, face-off another team of six to recover the EMP located at the center of the map and convey it to the opponent’s side where it must be exploded to destroy their data center.

Any executed player would be out for the round unless revived by a teammate. The first team to win six games wins the match.

Domination

Domination is one of the most prolonged game modes in Modern Warfare.

In domination, two teams combat themselves to capture three neutral locations—the more locations held by a team, the more points that team will earn.

The focus of each player should be on capturing or defending already captured locations.

Search and Destroy

Search and Destroy is a classic game mode in the series.

It tests the dexterity and cooperation of a team while forcing its members to play inversely as they would in any other game mode.

Two groups of six are tasked with destroying an objective or defending it; each player already has the team’s instructions but is tested against it.

Headquarters

Headquarters is a swift objective-based mode where two teams are rutted against each other to capture and hold headquarters to earn points.

A player must maintain a headquarter’s perimeter, stop enemy players from taking it over, and capture as many headquarter locations as possible.

Hardpoint

Hardpoint is an all-action mode where two teams battle for specific locations on a map.

However, there could be only one hardpoint for a team to capture during the match.

A player needs to stay on a hard point as long as possible until his team becomes its controller.

Gunfight

The gunfight is another new model in the Call of Duty series and one of the smallest introduced in years.

Two players team up and face another team of two in a randomized-weapon battle.

After 40 seconds, a flag will spawn in the middle of the map, and the player who holds the flag for three seconds wins the match for his team.

Kill Confirmed: Players pick up dog tags dropped by killed players to score points.

Red tags signify dead enemy players, while blue tags represent dead teammates.

A player must kill enemy players and pick up their tags while also on the lookout for teammates’ tags.

Free-for-all

This is a game mode where a player is against every other player in the game area.

Each player’s objective is to protect himself and kill every other player.

Warzone

Warzone Mode is a free-for-all, multiplayer mode released in March 2020 that can be downloaded independently.

Warzone Mode can accommodate up to 150 players as players will be animatedly conveyed into the battle area.

The Warzone multiplayer mode displays two main modes: Battle Royale and Plunder.

In a fictional setting, Warzone’s Battle Royale features a fictional city named Verdansk, where players compete to be the last man standing.

Eliminated players are sent to the ‘gulag’ and partake in individualized battles lasting forty seconds per round against other eliminated players.

The winner re-surfaces into the game.

The second mode, Plunder, features an aim to collect $1 million piles of cash strewn across the game area; the player with the highest percentage of the total $1 million is declared the winner.

Cash gathered by a player can be used to purchase items like weapons and revive tokens at purchase-stations around the game area.

Cash can also be used to buy already created custom classes at ‘Load-out’ drops.

Special Ops

The Special Ops Mode features multi-objective missions and requires 4-player cooperation as a prerequisite.

Survival

The Survival Mode is a planned release, exclusive to PlayStation 4; it is expected to be released in October 2020.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Platform

The game was released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4.

However, being a cross-platform game, players on different platforms can play with each other.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Downloadable Content

Six months after the Call of Duty Modern Warfare’s release, the Warzone mode was introduced as an independent downloadable content in March 2020.

Season 4 of the Warzone mode was released in June 2020, and there is an anticipated release of another multiplayer mode, Survival.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Development

Call of Duty Modern Warfare was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision.

However, developers like Beenox, High Moon Studios, Raven Software, and Sledgehammer Games provided additional support.

It was developed via the newly-developed IW engine, which has enhanced its visuals.

The game visuals detail a more comprehensive game environment, advanced photogrammetry and rendering, improved volumetric lighting, and the implementation of ray tracing.

The game was written by Brian Bloom, Justin Harris, Taylor Kurosaki, and Ben Chaney, and composed by Sarah Schachner.

Modern Warfare’s storyline is stirred by real events and conflicts like the Iraq War, the Arab Spring, and the Syrian Civil War.
